Why does Cannabis give me Cotton Mouth?
I typically hear from customers, friends, and family who ask the same question: why does dry mouth happen? Cotton mouth occurs for me personally, whether I am taking an edible or when I smoke. Although there is not a quick fix, but while doing extensive research ;) I have come up with some “stoner hacks” to help cure the dry mouth.
Cotton mouth is also referred to as “xerostomia”. This is expedited when consuming cannabis due to the fact, that throughout the human body there are cannabinoid receptors, including in the salivary glands. When you inhale, or consume cannabis the cannabinoid anandamide will attach to these receptors which will result in a decrease of saliva output.Remember, everyone's aftereffects from cannabis are different, and over time, you will learn how your body reacts.
Ways to Prevent:
Mint Gum
Drinking electrolytes immediately after consumption
Quick Rinse w/ mouth wash
Eliminate drinks w/ caffeine
Rick Ross “THE BOSS OF WEED”
Rick Ross, the legendary rapper and businessman, recently teamed up with Higher Tolerance to create his own line of strains. If anyone follows or checks out Ross’s Instagram, they can see him puffing on a fat joint daily, from morning to night. In an interview with High Times, he describes how his new strain, Collins Ave, makes him feel: “It makes me feel like a boss. It’s very uplifting, gets my vibes right, and puts me in the place I like.”
As a connoisseur of cannabis, appreciating the aftereffects of how weed can make you feel in your everyday life is crucial. Rick also explains that his new strains elevate his creative process: “I’m always smoking that High Tolerance. I have a high tolerance. It helps me stay creative. It’s a big part of my music and my everyday life.”
Rap culture and cannabis have gone hand in hand for decades. It's a beautiful thing to see more celebrity collaborations happening in the industry, with renowned figures such as Mike Tyson (Tyson 2.0) and Wiz Khalifa (Khalifa Kush) creating their own strains and partnering with key brands in the industry. Through these collaborations and the PR that surrounds them, there is a direct impact on the destigmatization of cannabis, further moving the needle for added reform.
